So. We begin. I'm 27 and a diabetic. My knees hurt, my spine is crooked and I'm overweight. I take Actoplus Met for my diabetes, a cholesterol medication and Zoloft for depression. At my last doctor's appointment, my weight was 285. I no longer want to be a giant fat ass. So I'm going to do something about it.
Today I hit the gym. For 20 minutes, I did the treadmill, 15 minutes on a bike, 10 minutes on an elliptical and 10 more minutes on the treadmill. Round trip I did four miles. Right now, I'm feeling pretty good. I did some trial runs last week and I did a little over the weekend, and today was already better. Hopefully that trend continues.
For breakfast I had:
2 Servings of Protein Plus Special K with milk and a little sugar free Vanilla creamer
1 banana
1 Yoplait Red Raspberry yogurt
2 pieces of Protein Bread with butter
For lunch I had:
8 inches of a Black Forest Ham and Turkey sub with lettuce, tomato, pickles and mustard.
Randomly:
Two 20 oz. bottles of water
working on another liter
a couple of pure protein bars with only 2g of sugar, although I just noticed that they have 200 calories each...
Official weigh-in later, I think.

I have bad cholesterol too (I take symvastatin). Lifestyle changes are difficult, but perfectly attainable. A few years ago, I quit smoking and started running. I blog about it too. Good luck to you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Viper! That's actually what I'm taking for my cholesterol. Did you have wicked nausea at first? Because I do and it SUCKS.
ReplyDeleteNo nausea for me. Sorry to hear you're dealing with that. It has gotten my LDL/HDL levels down quite a bit, so it seems to work.
ReplyDeleteJust be careful with the simvastatin (or any statin) that you don't get unexplainable muscle pain. This could be extremely detrimental to your kidney function and can progress to full kidney failure. It is rare, but be aware of it :)
